the gig

Lonocode tapped me to design the UI/UX for Staff Draft, a custom tool for Vivid Sky. They’re an event production powerhouse that needed a way to quit the spreadsheet life and start rostering staff across multiple cities and venues with actual precision.

the win

Think of it as a "fantasy football" style interface, but for high-stakes event production. I built a system that makes assigning hundreds of people to different locations feel less like a puzzle and more like a strategy.

deep dive

The Conflict Crusher: Built-in logic to prevent "double-booking" staff. I designed a smart notification system that flags overlapping shifts before they happen—saving production managers from a logistical nightmare.

  • Filtering the Noise: With hundreds of staff and dozens of venues, the data can get loud. I created a robust filtering system so managers can find the right "local" talent by skill set, location, or availability in seconds.

  • The "Bird's Eye" View: Solved the challenge of visualizing multiple timelines at once. I designed a high-density calendar view that remains readable even when you're managing five events in five different cities.

  • Mobile on the Move: Since event leads are rarely behind a desk, I prioritized a "mobile-first" approach for the roster view, ensuring the crew knows exactly where to be and when, right from their pockets.

the win

What used to take hours of manual spreadsheet updates now happens in a few clicks. Staff Draft has become the backbone of Vivid Sky’s operations—turning a chaotic staffing process into a repeatable, scalable win.
